German Pottery was made in West Germany
immediately after WWII starting in 1954. Designs were
based using asymmetrically designs fashioned after potters
in Milano Italy. A basis concept of balance and
proportion was established and a variety of glazes used to
create unique designs when kilned.
It was established after WW11 as a means
of freedom of a new art form starting out with simplistic
forms and bold colors and moved into practical useable art
with large geometric designs. Orange was the symbolic
color of a new dawn and appears in many of the pieces. |
